Dave Winnyk is a multi-genre writer and activist living in Chicago. He received his Bachelor of Arts in creative writing and in theatre from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2013. He has studied the craft under best selling author, Robert Olmsted and award winning playwright, Bonnie Milne-Gardner. Dave is the creator and author of The Futurist, a short fiction blog series that examines our evolution as humans. The first series, This Pleasant Continuum, explores the depth of government surveillance in our digital age. Series two is in only tentative stages, but as of now, he hopes to use it to explore the catastrophic toll that the patriarchy has taken on our collective humanity.
Dave is the author of seven plays (two full and five one acts), a handful of essays, and is currently in the process of writing a novel. In addition to his writing, Dave is interested in the performing arts, particularly when it's ensemble theatre oriented at social progression. He has worked and performed with renowned artist, Tim Miller, and many other gifted educators.
He can also be seen around the city waving signs, gathering signatures, and/or passing out information for Greenpeace and Rain Forest Action League.
